Leadership training permeates all facets of
Machon Maayan. With a wide variety of leadership courses, community
internships, and highly effective full-dayseminars, Machon Maayan utilizes a
variety of media to build leadership skills. Shabbatonim, Rosh Chodesh
celebrations, and Chagim events are developed, organized, and executed by
the students.
Machon Maayan encourages and supports student-run initiatives. For example,
during the planning of a Shabbat in the Golan, the student planning committee
suggested extending the weekend to include Thursday in order incorporate a
full-day seminar on Chesed. After some research, the students identified a
project in Tiberias and coordinated with a local volunteer group to repaint
schools, beautify gardens, and assist the elderly. The students' initiative
proved to be highly
successful.

Assistant Director of Machon Maayan

There were many leadership opportunities. I loved planning the Golan
Shabbaton and the final banquet. I feel that my leadership skills have really
developed. Before I came to Machon Maayan I never considered being active in
Jewish organizational work, now I am committed to being involved. I know that
I can make a
difference.
